We haven't been pushing Andrew using the potty too much, since he's had a fairly eventful year so far. He knows what to do, but we haven't been consistent with making him go. If you set the alarm, he's pretty good at sitting down and peeing. We've had absolutely zero luck getting him to poop. He just does not want to interrupt his oh-so-important train playing for potty time.
Enter: The Bribe.
And what is the key to Andrew's heart? Well, Thomas and Friends, duh! We took him to Toys R Us, back in August, and let him pick out a train. He, of course, picked out the most expensive one, Gordon. Since we were having trouble getting him to even try pooping on the potty, we made it a sweet bribe, poop just ONE time, and you earn this train!
He's known for months that to get Gordon, he has to poopoo in the potty. Yet, he just does not want to.
Me? I do not want to change more poopy diapers. I don't think you need me to explain that one to you.
Lately, when I see him going off to "hide" and poop, I'll grab him and run him to the potty. Mostly, this just makes him clam up. I figure eventually, he won't be able to hold it anymore and we will have success.
Saturday? We had success! sort of. in a little way... He walked off to hide, I ran him upstairs, sat him down and he pooped. A rabbit pellet. Seriously, it was the smallest poop in the history of poop!
Still, we had to reward him, right? After two months, he finally earned Gordon! We also let him have ice cream, and made special calls to Meme and Gramma.
That night? He pooped the rest in the bathtub. First time in nearly 3 years of parenting I had to clean that out of the tub. It was gross!
Hopefully, he grasped that this was good and exciting and does it again! Sunday it didn't work, but we were not paying good attention to it. Today I was a HAWK, but nothing. You will see your day soon toilet, I promise!
Also, we reward him with one M&M each time he pees. He has just got to get the hang of this potty thing soon. Andrew gets one M&M, Mama gets 4. Why haven't I lost all of the baby weight???

Do you guys read any books about poop? We have Everyone Poops, and we started reading it to Immi when she was really little, and pooping was the first thing she started doing on the potty. Less consistently now than she used to, unfortunately. She'll go right in her diaper (she used to ask to take it off to use the potty), but if she has underpants on she usually remembers to go to the potty.
I have heard that some kids are afraid that they are losing a part of themselves when they poop, or something like that, which is why they run away and hide in a corner.
That was the most times I have ever used "poop" in an internet comment.
