Well, Andrew had his first visit to the emergency room tonight!
Andy had just gotten home and he and Andy were in the kitchen, just being goofy. Andrew "fell" to the floor, when he got Stuck. We must have really dirty floors, as the poor child has been getting Stuck to the floor a lot lately, and needs helping getting UnStuck. Andy helped him up, by grabbing his hand and pulling. I'm sure most of you can see where this is going!
Andrew got up from the floor and walked off. Then the tears started. Boo hoo, Daddy hurt me (nice kid, let's drop that sentence fast!). Andy picked him up, and he complained that his arm hurt, and was pointing to his elbow. I gently tried to squish everything, and nothing seemed to hurt, but he refused to bend his arm, and couldn't pick up the remote with that hand, couldn't make a fist. He wouldn't let Andy put him down, and wouldn't let Andy SIT down! We decided to take him to the er.
Luckily, I happen to pass a hospital with an ER on our way to music class, so I knew where to direct them! I stayed home with the baby.
Andy said Andrew cried when he took him out of the carseat, and wouldn't let Andy sit down the entire time. At one point he tried, and Andrew moaned a bit. After that, he was acting back to normal. So, either the elbow popped back in here at home and he was still just hurting and in shock from it, or it might have happened then.
In any case, they waited around in the ER for some time, during which Andrew started acting completely fine and used his arm again. Even wiped his nose on his sleeve, the dear boy. Andy was just about to ask if they could leave when they got called back, so he saw a doctor anyway. For less than a minute!
Andrew has earned a new train (Emily) for his pain and good behavior, and touching nothing at the hospital.
Now? we wait for the swine flu to attack us all...
