Halloween

Because I am cheap, I had every intention of making Andrew re-wear his monkey costume from last year. Turns out, nearly 3 year olds have minds of their own! I started to explain to him the concept of trick or treating and omg how awesome will it be to dress up like a monkey!? No. Oh, what do you want to dress up like? Thomas! Of course, Andrew, of course. So, we tracked down a Thomas costume across town at the other Target. Got Ellie a 6-9 month peapod costume, that turned out to be too small. Darn giant baby!

The Wednesday before Halloween, my neighbor, Cami, had the day off, so she came over and we carved our pumpkins together. I need to have a plan before I take a knife after a giant squash, so I drew my face on with Magic marker. Which of course made Andrew think we were "painting" on pumpkins. I think all the pumpkins ended up with a little paint on them! Even with my careful planning, my pumpkin still looked weird. I don't know why I try this year after year!

Andrew and our Jack-o-lantern

On Saturday, we went to Cooper's daycare for a fall festival with him and Cami. Andrew was able to paint a pumpkin, jump in a bounce house, crawl through a tube, get a tattoo, not ride a pony, and get a train book.

We came home and tooted around waiting for the big moment. Finally, we all dressed up. Andrew was Thomas the Tank Engine, Ellie a bursting pea pod, I was a mouse, and Andy dressed as Uncle Matt. We hung out on the porch for a while, waiting to see other kids out trick or treating before we hit the road. We went to the cul-de-sac across from ours, and went to about 5 houses. Andrew was his shy self, but managed to squeak out "trick-or-treat" and "thank you." Ellie flipped out by the second house and had to come out of the stroller, where she had been placed for optimum baby visibility. Girlfriend was boiling hot...it was 80* out :-p

I went back home to wait for kids that never showed up, while Andy and Andrew went down to another road. Andrew wasn't into it anymore so they came home. We all hung out at the end of the cul-de-sac with our neighbors, chatting and eating our candy. We had a whopping 6 kids come to see us! Very disappointing. We decided it was because our single street lamp was out. Right?

Andrew passed out in Andy's arms around 8. It was quite a busy, napless day for the boy!
